About SchoolCare
In 1999 several Christian businessmen from Birmingham wanted to invest in a Christian business. They had three goals: a good financial return on their investment, Christian employment for their children, and most important, to help parents shape the moral values of their children. As they prayed and discussed possibilities they were directed to visit a childcare center in Florida. They discovered a very successful childcare business and much more.
They learned that preschool children can learn to read, write, and work with numbers. They were impressed with the Bible teaching the students received each day. Some of the Director/Owner’s children were working in his business too. Inspired, the men returned to Alabama determined to invest in childcare.
They pooled investment funds and purposed to start three childcare centers: two in Birmingham and one in Huntsville. The wisdom of this placement only became clear when Hoover and Huntsville were recently acknowledged to be the most growth potential cities in Alabama. They chose the name Covenant Classical Schools, L.L.C.
Classical referred to a way of teaching brought to the American Colonies by the Puritans. It stressed rigorous academics including early reading. These devoutly Christian immigrants wanted their children to become Christians. They reasoned that the best way to reach this goal was to give their children the ability to read the Bible for themselves.
While classical education did not last long, it served early America well. One historian noted that the literacy rate in early America was nearly 100%. Only in recent years has classical education begun to make a comeback in our country. Today there are over 200 schools that claim to teach classically. SchoolCare of CCS is one of them.

Covenant Classical Schools opened for business in January 2000. All the centers started with just a handful of students. Today, by God’s blessing, each school has prospered, with many classes fully enrolled, some with waiting lists.
The name is now transitioning to SchoolCare because it more clearly describes our brand of childcare, which is truly distinct in the industry.
